This vehicle was brought to us on the back of a recovery truck with the notorious timing chain rattle. Before replacing the chains and sending the customer on their way, we ensured that the engine itself was mechanically fine. Upon completion of various tests such as a simple compression test, and the stripping of the turbo, we found that the turbo had internally failed and the oil filter was full of metal filings. We informed the customer of the issues. 2 options were given, a brand new engine block or a full engine rebuild. The customer opted for the fairly priced rebuild. Within this repair:
• Re - ground crankshaft, Engine surfaces machined, New engine bearings, New oil pump, New piston rings, Cylinder head pressure tested, skimmed, valves de - coked and new valve stem seals, New cylinder head gasket, New camshaft and rocker arms, New timing chains, guides and tensioners, Re - conditioned turbocharger, 4 new fuel injectors, New piston cooling jet, All new seals, nuts, bolts and gaskets.
